Vitor Joaquim started performing improvised music in 1982 with EmidioBu chinho. For some years he studied cinema and produced sound for cinema,and video, while also working as a video director.
He first started composing for dance in 1989 at the Lisbon Dance Company(CDL) with Mark Haim that would later take his work to the Coogan Dancersfrom Munich.

Since then, Vitor Joaquim has been composing for dance, theater, cinema, video, installations and multimedia, having worked withsuch creators as: Andreas Stocklein, Mónica Calle, Mark Haim, Vera Mantero, Paulo Ribeiro, Maria João Pires, Álvaro Correia, Luis Fonseca, Vitor Garcia,Guillermo W. Molina, Sónia Rocha, Sandro Aguilar, Stephanie Tiersch, TeresaRanieri, Marija Stamancovich and Rui Horta among others. With Rui Horta he created the music for “Pixel”, “LP” and integrated: “Rugas”, “Blind spot”and several other works from Rui. In 1997 his release “Tales From Chaos”, as Free Field (ananana label) isconsidered by the portuguese newspaper Público as one of the 10 fundamental records of portuguese electronic music.

In 1998, composed the music for theSensations Maker of the three official CD-ROM’s of Lisbon's EXPO 98 underthe title "Blue Trilogy", and becomes a member of the Electronic MusicFoundation.

Live or recorded he collaborated with: Harald Sack Ziegler, Eric Linder,Pedro Carneiro, Carlos Zíngaro, Nuno Rebelo, Ivan Franco, Paolo Angeli, Gregg Moore, Rodrigo Amado, Martin Archer, Joe Giardullo, Ulrich Mitzlaff, Carlos Santos, André Gonçalves, Emídio Buchinho, Ernesto Rodrigues, Marco Franco, Sergi Jordà, Paulo Raposo, Pedro Almeida, Pedro Tudela, @c, Marc Behrens, Miguel Carvalhais, Scanner, Pedro Rebelo, Franziska Schroeder and Keiko Uenishi (o.blaat).

Pure, Lia, Return, Paulo Raposo, Edgar Pêraand André Sier.
