Initiated by German musicians Thomas Maos and Fried Dähn in 1999, the Creative Art and Music Project (CAMP) is a festival created by artists for artists. From the very outset, Maos and Dähn conceived CAMP as a regular international event, to be held at different locations.
The idea behind the festival:
CAMP is a festival in the original sense of the word: We invite artists to an out-of-the-ordinary location, where they can experiment together, and present the resulting “work in progress” to a live audience. At CAMP, artists from the worlds of video, installation, projection, and media join forces with musicians from the electronic and improvisation scenes.
The success of the concept was demonstrated by the 1999, 2003 and 2005 events. Invited artists from around the globe spent a week collaborating in small groups, pushing limits, discussing new ideas, and airing the results in public. The response of participants, audiences, and the press was highly enthusiastic – encouraging the organizers to extend the CAMP concept beyond Germany. |
