Pavel Mrkus (CZ)

Pavel Mrkus has been recently active in various fields of fine arts especially digital media with focus on video, interactive and site specific installation. After study of glass with professor Vladimír Kopecký at Prague Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design he developed his personal creative language within topics of immanent moments of fleeting reality. His interest in Religious Studies together with experience of four years teaching position at Toyama City Institute of Glass Art in Japan lead him to unique mixture of cultural paradigms. After showing at 50th Venice Biennial in 2003 he participated in many group and solo shows around world. Together with Daniel Hanzlik they found BOOT_audiovisual, a group dedicated to live digital performances and video projects for public spaces. Together they also established Time-Based Media studio at J. E. Purkyne University in Usti nad Labem. His works are in various collections such as Museum of Decorative Arts Prague or Glass Museum Notojima.
