Junya Oikawa (JP)

born 1983, Sendai Japan. Sound artist / 3-dimensional electroacoustic composer.

He began playing the electronic-guitar in a rock-band. He completed  B.A. in the Music and Sound Design Course in Senzoku Gakuen College of Music with the distinction, and M.A. in the Department of Inter Media Art Kiyoshi Furukawa lab in Tokyo University of the Arts in 2011.

Oikawa uses recorded voices of his own and daily noises / soundscape to process and transform them into many kinds of sound via computer, and restructure organic, interactive time and spaces to acoustically produce "the worlds of imaginary fantasy" with full spectrum.

Recently he has participated in "Tokyo Art Meeting Transformation" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) curated by Yuko Hasegawa as one of the 21 remarkable international artists such as Matthew Barney. In this exhibition, he has presented new work of sound installation using only sound. His exhibition was introduced in the in-flight magazine of ANA (All Nippon Airways) "Tsubasa no Okoku August 2011".
He has also been collaborating with many other artists of multiple fields such as dancers, video artists and contemporary artists. In 2010, his audio-visual installation work "reminiscence" that was created in 2007 in collaboration with video artist Takaharu Saito with the concept of "space of recollection", was released as CD / DVD through Te pito records (Japan) and its launch event was held at Apple Store Ginza.
He is currently staying at ZKM as a guest artist and working on his creative activities.
